That’s one of the things that drew me to the company in the first place. As a self-proclaimed “lazy girl,” I never thought I’d be interested in a workout that required so much movement and coordination. But, as it turns out, Crossfit is for everyone—and Planet Fitness is the perfect place to get started. Here’s how to progress with Crossfit, even if you’re starting from scratch:

Step 1: Get Comfortable With The Basics
The first step is to get comfortable with the basic movements. This means learning how to do a proper air squat, deadlift, push-up, and sit-up. You can find demonstrations of these movements online or ask a certified trainer at your local Planet Fitness for help. Once you have the basics down, you can move on to more challenging workouts.

Step 2: Begin With Bodyweight Workouts
Once you’re comfortable with the basic movements, you can begin doing bodyweight workouts. These are workouts that use your own bodyweight as resistance, instead of weights or other equipment. 3) Make sure you are breathing properly. Many people hold their breath when they exert themselves, but this is actually counterproductive. You should be breathing deeply and steadily throughout your workout to get the most oxygen to your muscles.

4) Finally, make sure you are mentally prepared for the workout. If you go into a workout with a negative attitude, it will be more difficult than it needs to be. If you focus on why you hate the workout or how difficult it is, you will have a harder time getting through it. Instead, focus on how good it will feel once you finish and how proud of yourself you will be.
